Back to Our Roots is a residency programme by Spudnik Farms since 2022, to facilitate an exchange of knowledge and ideas around the biodiversity and culinary capabilities of tuber crops that grow in Joida in the Western Ghats.

About the Programme

Spudnik Farms is back with the *Back to Roots* Residency Programme, an immersive experience aimed at sharing knowledge about the biodiversity and culinary uses of tuber crops grown in Joida, Western Ghats. This programme connects urban chefs with rural farmers, promoting sustainable food systems.

This 3-day immersive experience invites writers, chefs, food enthusiasts, and researchers to delve into the world of tuber crops with the farming community in Joida. Engage in hands-on learning, culinary exploration, and vibrant discussions.

Residency Activities:

  • Field trips and excursions to tuber-growing communities

  • Hands-on experience with tuber crop cultivation and harvesting

  • Workshops and talks by experts on tuber crops and sustainable agriculture

  • Collaborative recipe development and cooking sessions

  • Cultural exchanges and community engagement activities​​
